Innovative ways of supporting Wood’s Homes

By Catherine Feenstra – Development Officer, Wood’s Homes

At Wood’s Homes, we are constantly humbled by our community’s support that arrives in so many innovative ways. If you can dream it, it can be done!

The 24th Annual Motorcycle Awareness Ride is scheduled for May 24, 2015. This dedicated group of avid motorcycle enthusiasts gather every year to promote safety and awareness drivers.

At the same time, they also raise funds for many worthwhile causes, and for the second year, Wood’s Homes will be the grateful recipient. Registration is open until May 22, so grab your helmet and join in the fun!

Zuriada Dada-Ramdin is running in the Scotiabank Marathon May 28-31 in support of Wood’s Homes.

Zuraida volunteers up to 20 hours a month at our Eastside Family Centre where we offer no-charge walk-in counselling – an amazing show of dedication and commitment! Click here to sponsor Zuriada.

Heartwarming in more ways than one, the Patchwork Angels have donated dozens of handcrafted quilts and blankets to the children and families in our programs.

Newborns in Foster Care, homeless teenagers who stay at our EXIT Youth Shelter, and families who are part of our Santa Project at Christmas are some of the lucky recipients of their talent and care.

In Lethbridge, the teens at our Emergency Youth Shelter have enjoyed delicious homemade soup made by the Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers…the joy of cooking taken to a whole new level!

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their generosity with the children and families we work with – whether it’s in a way that’s tried-and-true or brand-new, we are very grateful.

Ask for help. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your friends, family and community – let’s work together!
