“I gained confidence in my ability to make a difference in this field” – Wood’s Homes practicum student
Thank you to Wood’s Homes 2014-15 Students! Over 40 students successfully completed their practicum placements with Wood’s Homes programs this year.
The annual Student Appreciation Luncheon, held earlier this year, showcases appreciation of each student’s dedication to learning in the fields of: child and youth care, social work, psychology, nursing, and other social services.
Students, supervisors and other Wood’s staff had the opportunity to share the meaning of their practicum experiences and their favourite memories for the year.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive:
“Staff was amazing.”
“The team atmosphere was the most rewarding – learning about different interventions, assessments and treatment plans.”
“There were never any stupid questions. I felt like part of the team and my voice counted with full-time staff.”
“I appreciated how involved I was, so my learning experience was enhanced.”
Practicum liaison representatives from various institutions also attended, including:
- University of Calgary – both the Faculty of Social Work and the Werklaund School of Education
- Lethbridge College
- Mount Royal University
They expressed their appreciation of Wood’s Homes’ commitment to enhancing the education of the next generation of professionals in the field of human services.
