Q: Tell me a little about yourself.

My name is Simon Lai and I have been with Woods Homes since 2007. I started out working in the Phoenix Program and eventually moved on to the Community Resource Team (CRT). I am currently part of the Street Services Team. Continue reading

My colleague, Patti, comments occasionally about the number of clients, students and therapists I have worked with over the past 25 years.  She has been pushing me to write a book on what I have learned as she and others know that I am on the end side of finishing my therapist career. Towards this end, she has even given me a book and a notebook, which serve as reminders. This has led me to think about what I bring to therapy and, in turn, what clients bring to me. Multiple faculties have ties into the well-respected children’s mental health agency.

Since the beginning of their partnership, Wood’s Homes and the University of Calgary have together formed a strong partnership. Extending across multiple faculties, this collaboration has developed ground-breaking research and mental health initiatives. From practicum placements, to alumni employment, the two organizations are connected in more ways than one. Continue reading
